Solving Engine Woes: Is a Rebuilt Engine Worth the Money?

When the engine began to give me trouble, I had to find some means of keeping my old car running for a few more years. To save money, I talked with my mechanic about investing in a rebuilt engine. Up till then, I figured once an engine passed the point of no return, the only alternative was to buy a new one. Not so, said my mechanic. An engine that is rebuilt to factory standards is cheaper and likely to provide the same benefits. To sweeten the pot, a rebuilt engine often comes with a limited warranty. My story could mean the difference between relying on the city bus to get around and having a reliable vehicle in your driveway.
