Ways To Save Money When Buying New Tires For Your Vehicle

Replacing the tires on your car or truck can be expensive, so finding ways to save on the cost is often beneficial. Working with your local tire shop to find the right tires for your vehicle at a price that fits your budget is an excellent place to start.

New Tires

When buying new tires, you will find many brands and styles that may work for your vehicle. Your local tire shop will often have a brand name and an off-brand tire option that is very similar but offers some options to the buyer.

If you want the best mileage warranty and wear from your tires, a new set from a large, well-known manufacturer may be the way to go. However, if you have a limited budget but you still want new tires on your car or truck, some alternative brands are lesser known that are well-constructed tires, that will wear fine but have a lower price tag and a limited mileage warranty that may be perfect for your situation.

Often the best way to save some money is to wait for the tires to go on sale before you buy them. A tire shop may run a special in the fall when people are getting their car ready for winter, and throughout the year, many shops will offer a deal like buy three and get a fourth free. These specials can save you money, but only if you can wait for them.

Used Tires

A local tire shop may have used tires for sale, and you can often buy them at significant cost savings if you ask about them. Many times the used tires come from cars and trucks that have new replacement tires. The vehicle may have some good tires, but the owner is buying new ones, so the tire shop will set the old ones aside and sell them later.

The tread on the tires may be worn, but if that wear is even and the tire is in good shape overall, this can be an excellent alternative to new tires when working with a tight budget. The tire shop will typically only sell tires that do not have plugs in them or other damage and are safe to use on the vehicle.

Used tires will not typically have a warranty remaining, but the shop may offer one in-house. If you only need one or two tires, used tires can be a good option, and tires will commonly come with mounting and balancing as new tires do, making them an excellent way to extend the time you have before replacing your tires with a new set.
